YPC Display Plans

I had originally re-purposed some store displays that I had made from redwood 2X4′s. I had painted 1/2  white and gave the other half a clear finish. (you may see the results here at the Merced Mall).

I would suggest that Standard Building grade 2X4′s be used (Kiln Dried to decrease warping over time). Once built, the flaws are simply covered up with a good coat of paint. I might suggest that paint can be bought at the big box stores discounted to @ $5 /gallon from customer non pick-ups. Color isn’t that important here.

The 4×8 foot OSB-board was actually the $8 particle board used to roof buildings with. It was cheap, smooth on one side, a little rough on the other, but once they were painted and covered with posters, it didn’t matter.

The same particle board was cut and fitted for the insets of the 2×4 frames.

I pre-drilled with a 1/2″ forstner bit in 1/2″ deep, glued the joints, and used 3″ Wall board screws to put the 2×4 frames together. Once the frames were “Glued & Screwed”, a router with a simple 3/8 concave bit was used on the entire frame to round all edges. This added a touch of class for such an easy procedure.
